Today is election day and folks are getting out in droves to let their voices be heard! And on the precipice of such an important election, John Legend hit the campaign trail in Pennsylvania to let his voice be heard and encourage the masses to vote for Joe Biden. He also took a moment to share his thoughts about the few rappers who have decided to take a seat on the Trump train instead…
In a speech given at his alma mater, University of Pennsylvania, Legend laid into rappers who have recently thrown at least some level of support behind the Donald.
“Some people see the meanness, the bullying, the selfishness of Donald Trump and they mistake it for strength, a kind of twisted masculinity. Some people see his greed and they mistake it for being good at business. Some of your former favorite rappers have been taken in by these lies. I think they’ve even founded a new super group. It’s called the Sunken Place.”
This comes on the heels of Lil Wayne’s photo op with Trump in which he seems blissfully optimistic about the proposed Platinum Plan — a plan that Ice Cube also seemed to support. But John isn’t the only one take shots at the MCs, even Saturday Night Live had to get their jokes in — with Cube jokingly clapping back.
😂😂😂…fuck you SNL…trying to reduce me to greed. https://t.co/pObFAkOvcq

But, all jokes aside, John wrapped up his Philadelphia visit by reminding folks what’s really at stake…
“Trump’s Platinum Plan for Black folks is nothing but fool’s gold, because you can’t bank on a word he says. Ask the students of Trump University. Ask all of the contractors he stiffed. Ask people his charity was supposed to help before it was shut down for being a fraud. Ask all the Black and Brown Americans who are dying from this virus and losing their jobs under his watch. The president isn’t strong,” Legend continued. “He’s a coward. And his career in business and in government has been failure after failure after failure. We need a president we can trust.”
Do you agree with John?!
