Nope that’s not a click bait title. It’s the words of action star Liam Neeson.
Apparently the Taken actor also has an urge to kill his career because he decided to tell a journalist he once roamed the streets looking to kill any “black bastard” he encountered after his friend was allegedly raped by a black man.
The convo went down during the press junket for his upcoming movie Cold Pursuit.
Neeson relayed the story to The Independent while discussing his character, a father who seeks revenge (a Neeson specialty) after his son is killed by drug lord’s gang:
It was some time ago. Neeson had just come back from overseas to find out about the rape. “She handled the situation of the rape in the most extraordinary way,” Neeson says. “But my immediate reaction was…” There’s a pause. “I asked, did she know who it was? No. What colour were they? She said it was a black person.
“I went up and down areas with a cosh, hoping I’d be approached by somebody – I’m ashamed to say that – and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some [Neeson gestures air quotes with his fingers] ‘black bastard’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could,” another pause, “kill him.
BUT NOW HE FEELS HORRIBLE
Apparently the incident happened more than 40 years ago. Neeson makes it clear nothing ever happened, and says he learned from his “awful” and “horrible” behavior that revenge isn’t the answer.
“It was horrible, horrible, when I think back, that I did that,” he said. “And I’ve never admitted that, and I’m saying it to a journalist. God forbid.”
“But I did learn a lesson from it, when I eventually thought, ‘What the fuck are you doing,’ you know?”
OF COURSE TWITTER IS OUTRAGED
Unfortunately folks on social media aren’t so convinced he’s a changed man. As you can imagine Black Twitter is outraged and folks are calling for Neeson’s immediate cancellation.
