The #MeToo movement has kicked into overdrive after the premiere of Surviving R. Kelly but it looks like one of the male contributors to the series may have been living in a glass house of his own. Popular music journalist Toure Neblett released a statement after he was accused of sexual harassment by an ex- make up artist.

“On the show, our team, including myself, engaged in edgy, crass banter, that at the time I did not think was offensive for our tight-knit group. I am sorry for my language and for making her feel uncomfortable in any way. As a lead on the show, I should have refrained from this behavior. I have learned and grown from this experience.”

Here’s the scoop:

After Toure appeared on Surviving R. Kelly, he made a follow up appearance on The Clubhouse with Mouse Jones podcast. On their promo Instagram post,  a woman named Dani comments on the irony of Toure speaking on R. Kelly when he had a few of his own skeletons in his closet.

After her comments went viral, Dani sat with Essence for an exclusive interview where she detailed her experiences with Toure. She claims she left her job in October 2017 before reporting Toure to human resources. He was fired shortly after and also issued an apologize via DM.

“He went on Hot97 to talk about Harvey Weinstein (after he apologized). I accepted his apology and was ok to move on but, you can’t be a sexual predator and go around shaming other predators,” she said.

She says that it was his appearance on Surviving R. Kelly that made her finally speak out.

“When I saw him going around as R. Kelly’s docuseries spokesman to different radio stations, the lies had to stop. I’ve worked with Mouse Jones before and wanted him to know the truth,” she said.

Dani also responded to Toure’s recent statement to Essence

It looks like apology or not the damage has already been done and is now affecting business. Actor Terry Crews canceled his appearance on The Toure Show following allegations.
