The Martin cast is rallying behind Tisha Campbell Martin days after the actress and her husband of almost 30 years, Duane Martin, called it quits.
“That’s my friend, I’ll always be supportive. I’ve been through two divorces,” Tichina Arnold told HipHollywood on Sunday night during the ABFF Honors. “It happens.”
Carl Payne also explained that although he had not spoken with Campbell yet, when he does, he is “just going to be a friend and be supportive.”
Tisha, who shares two children with Duane, confirmed the news via social media last week, writing: “After 27 years of being together and two amazing children, it pains me to announce that I’ve filed for divorce. It’s an emotional time and I graciously ask for privacy for me, our children and the rest of our family.”
Although it’s been an emotional time for Tisha, the cast set emotions aside and celebrated the success of their sitcom during the African Black Film Festival Honors.
Martin Lawrence and company were honored during the soiree for the success of their classic television show, which aired from 1992-1997.
Following the event, Martin wrote on Instagram: “So grateful for this award from #ABFFhonors and especially to the cast of #Martin @tishacampbellmartin@tichinaarnold @thecarlpayne and RIP #TommyFord who helped made the show the classic that it is today. And couldn’t have chosen a better presenter than my man @snoopdogg #ILoveMyFans.”
Some of the other top nominees included Ava DuVernay, who recede the Industry Visionary Award; Billy Dee Williams, who took home the Hollywood Legacy Award; Tiffany Haddish who was the recipient of the Rising Star Award; and Omari Hardwick, who accepted the Distinguished ABFF Alumni Award.
