If you’ve seen the trailer for the upcoming comedy Almost Christmas, then you know Keri Hilson causes a whole lot of trouble at Christmas dinner. Hilson plays a store clerk who gets a little too flirtatious with J.B. Smoove’s character, and almost gets shot by his wife, Kimberly Elise.
HipHollywood caught up with Hilson at Essence Festival to get the scoop on her character and found out if she’s a side-piece, or nah. “I can’t confirm or deny that,” Hilson said with a sly grin. “I don’t like the term side-chick or homewrecker … Honestly, I have to be very delicate with the way I present my character, umm, because all side-chicks don’t know they are side-chicks … Dudes be having great game in some cases.”
Hilson and Jessie T. Usher, who also stars in the film, let us in on that hilarious scene when Elise pulls out a gun, and Mo’Nique proceeds to call Hilson all kinds of b–ches.
“After this movie comes out, I’m sure everywhere I go people are going to recite that piece to me, I’m sure,” joked Hilson. “So I’m going to have to figure out how to turn my defense fighting mechanism off or something.”
“That was in the moment, too,” adds Usher. “Mo’Nique just went off. She goes off a lot in the movie, and that was one of those moments where as soon as she finished everybody just lost it, everyone just started cracking up, and was like, ‘That’s got to be in the film.'”
Almost Christmas, which also stars Gabrielle Union, Nicole Ari Parker, Omar Epps and Danny Glover hits theaters November 11.
