Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky and Mike … and their mamas, too! The New Edition story just added new members to it’s line-up.
Airing as a three-part miniseries, New Edition: The Movie, has announced a few more familiar faces added to it’s all star cast — LaLa Anthony, Yvette Nicole Brown, Monica Calhoun, Lisa Nicole Carson and Sandi McCree.
Announced at the BET Upfronts, Anthony will play Flo DeVoe, mother of the young Ronnie DeVoe, Brown will play Michael Bivins’ mother Shirley Bivins, Calhoun is Ralph Tresvant’s mother Patricia Tresvant, Carson will play Ricky Bell’s mother Mae Bell and McCree is Bobby Brown’s mother Carole Brown.
These new faces are in addition to previously announced talent, Bryshere Y. Gray (Michael Bivins), Elijah Kelley (Ricky Bell), Luke James (Johnny Gill), Keith Powers (Ronnie DeVoe), and newcomers Algee Smith (Ralph Tresvant) and Woody McClain (Bobby Brown).
All New Edition members will also serve as co-producers on the project and Chris Robinson is the director. Shooting is set to start next month in Los Angeles, with the project slated to premiere in 2017 on BET.
