Yay! A little more #BlackGirlMagic for this wonderful Wednesday. It has been announced that both Serena Williams and Janet Jackson have projects pending with Lifetime.
Although she’s a tennis champ who has forever changed the game, Serena also knows how to cut a rug. That’s why she’s producing “Sister Dance”, a project based on the dance-off that she holds every year with her sister, Venus Williams. We honestly have no idea what this will entail, but it sounds awesome.
Janet’s also getting into the producing game by lending her talent to “Queenie”, the movie about a 1920s female gangster. Even though Ms. Jackson can’t tour right now, because she planning a family with her husband, she’s still found the energy to attach herself to this project that will be directed by Kenny Leon (The Wiz Live).
According to PageSix, Lifetime says it’s really focused on investing in short-form digital content that will be presented under the “Fempire” brand, which was billed as “entertaining and engaging the next generation of feminists.”
