Tiffany Haddish is opening up about her year-long relationship with rapper / actor Common.

During a recent interview with The Washington Post the 43-year-old said it was “the healthiest, the funnest relationship I’ve ever had.”

According to Haddish the pair met on the set of “The Kitchen,” which Haddish co-starred in with Melissa McCarthy and Elisabeth Moss.

“It’s where I felt safest out of all the relationships I’ve ever had,” she said of the rapper, real name Lonnie Rashid Lynn.

And yet he began to withdraw. There was a series of events — a concert in New York, a birthday party for Barack Obama, and Common’s own birthday — for which she says he didn’t invite her. Eventually, he called to break up over the phone.

“It wasn’t mutual,” she said. “It was more him saying, ‘I think this relationship has run its course.’ And I was like, ‘Okay. Like you gonna be a 50-year-old single man. Okay?’”

Common had previously said the split was mutual during an interview on “Hollywood Unlocked With Jason Lee Uncensored” in late 2021.  “We came to the understanding that this is what’s gonna be best for us,” he said. “To still continue to love each other and be there for each other is to not be in a romantic relationship because we won’t be able to give to that. I don’t want to be one foot in, one foot out.”

Still, Haddish who grew up in foster care and endured a series of abusive relationships, is hopeful she will find true love.

“I’m a pretty positive person, and I’m here to have an experience,” she says. “I would love to have a partner to experience it with. But also, I guess I’ve been alone for so long. And so used to being abandoned, I expect it. Which is sad, right?”
