Tory Lanez Sentencing Delayed Again, Prosecution Requests 13 Years In Prison

Tory Lanez sentencing has been delayed once again.

A sentencing originally planned for Tuesday (June 13th) was delayed at the request of Lanez’s attorneys. Lanez, real name Daystar Petersen, was present in court Tuesday wearing an orange prison jumpsuit, and black cap.

Superior Court Judge David Herriford reset sentencing for August 7th for the 30-year-old Canadian rap star, whose real name is Daystar Peterson.

Herriford said Lanez’s attorney’s would have until August 1 to submit a sentencing recommendation. Meanwhile, Prosecutors Kathy Ta and Alex Bott have asked Lanez be sentenced to 13 years in state prison.

As previously reported, Lanez was convicted of shooting hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion in the feet in the Hollywood Hills nearly three years ago.

Back in December a jury convicted Lanez on three felony charges — assault with a semiautomatic handgun, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

A sentencing date was initially set for January but was pushed back once Lanez retained new council and filed a motion for a new trial.

Lanez’ new attorneys, Jose Baez and Mathew Barhoma called Lanez’s defense during the trial a “jumbled, bungled mess” and said Lanez’s trial attorney, George Mgdesyan, did not have enough time to prepare for trial and ultimately “failed” his client.

Ultimately the judge denied the motion. “The court finds no error, prosecutorial misconduct or newly discovered evidence,” Herriford said. “Motion denied.”
