Dave Chappelle Under Fire … Again … For Transphobic Joke

Dave Chappelle is in hot water with the trans community … again!

The comedian made a surprise appearance Friday at fellow comedian John Mulaney’s show in Columbus, Ohio, and apparently cracked a couple jokes about the LGBTQ community that didn’t go over well.

After the show many attendees took to social media to criticize the comedian.

Pretty disappointed in John Mulaney, saw him tonight and yeah, he was funny, but he gave Dave Chapelle the platform to make some transphobic jokes. Also very disheartening to hear a crowd of 12,000 around you (a trans person) laughing at transphobic jokes. Thanks Columbus.

Attendees had to lock up their phones so there’s no footage. According to few Twitter users who attend the show, Chappelle cracked a joke about his attacker brandishing “a gun that identifies as a knife.”

“I mean, it wasn’t a gun, it was a knife! A gun that identifies as a knife?”
He then paused, smiled a bit, and moved on quickly.

– The homophobic joke was him saying “maybe you two are gay, I don’t know, nothing wrong with that if that’s the case.”

Apparently the joke Dave Chappelle said that is causing people to fall on their fainting couches is him saying he was attacked with a gun that identified as a knife.

Chappelle nor Mulaney have addressed the controversy.

You recall, Dave came under fire back in October 2021 for a series of jokes deemed transphobic during his Netflix special “The Closer.”

Workers at the streamer even staged a walkout and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) also denounced Chappelle’s special in a statement.
