UPDATE: The man who allegedly killed Jacqueline Avant was caught in a backyard roughly an hour after shooting the 81-year-old … and video shows him handcuffed to a wheelchair after being taken into custody.

According to cops, Aariel Maynor, 29, traveled from Beverly Hills to the Hollywood Hills after his attack on the Avant home. He attempted to break into another home in the Hills, and in the process somehow shot himself in the foot with an AR-15.

Cops say neighborhood surveillance helped them connect him from the crime in Hollywood to the murder at the Avant home.

BHPD says Maynor is the sole suspect in Jacqueline’s death. We’ve learned he has an extensive criminal record dating back to 2013, and has done time for robbery and grand theft. He also got probation for a domestic violence case.

Our condolences go out to music executive Clarence Avant and his family as it has been reported that his 81-year-old wife, Jacqueline Avant, was shot and killed yesterday in an apparent home invasion in Beverly Hills.

According to police, they were called to the wealthy Trousdale Estates area around 2:30 AM where the caller stated someone had been shot. Jackie was rushed to nearby Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with a gun shot wound to the stomach. She was pronounced dead at the hospital. Clarence was reportedly at the home as well but it is unclear if he was also harmed. There is also no word on how many suspects there are as there has been no arrests made but authorities do express that they do not believe the attack was random.<

There was also reports that there was security guard at the home at the time. The Avants have been married for 54 years and Jacqueline is also the mother-in-law to Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.

The family has since released a statement,“Jacqueline was an amazing woman, wife, mother, philanthropist, and a 55-year resident of Beverly Hills who has made an immeasurable, positive contribution and impact on the arts community. She will be missed by her family, friends, and all of the people she has helped throughout her amazing life,” Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) Chief Mark Stainbrook read.

This tragic death comes after a string of violent and armed robberies targeting Hollywood elites in recent weeks. Just last month, actor Terrence J narrowly escaped an attempted robbery with his life when a crew of “follow-home” robbers began shooting at him after he came to his Sherman Oaks home from a night out in Hollywood.

“Real Housewife” Dorit Kemsley was also robbed at gun point at her Encino Home of her valuables while her young children, ages 7 and 5, were also home. Earlier this year, officers to the BH restaurant Il Pastaio around 2pm after a woman was shot while an armed robbery was taking place. A man was also robbed of his rose gold Richard Mille RM 11-03 Flyback Chronograph valued at $500k. There has also been a recent viral video of a couple being robbed at gun point while dining at a restaurant in Los Angeles.

In response, the LAPD has issued an alert warning residents of “new crime trend” last month. According to TMZ, Avant’s neighbors are pretty shaken up by the uptick in violent crimes in high end neighborhoods  so much so they have put money together to hire their own private security firm just last week but unfortunately patrol had not began yet.

Clarence Avant is known as the Godfather of Black Music. Artists from Jay-Z, Diddy to L.A. Reid and Babyface have all praises him for his extraordinary work in the music world.
