Anthony Mackie will officially play Captain America in Marvel Studios’ upcoming “Captain America 4.”

According to Deadline Mackie has closed a deal to carry the shield in his first superhero picture as Captain America.

Mackie officially took over the role during the course of the Disney Plus series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”

Back in April he told HipHollywood he still couldn’t believe he was assuming the role from Chris Evans, but shared a few things he planned to do first.

“My friends were like yo, there’s a shortage of chicken wings in Atlanta so I can’t find lemon pepper anywhere, so Imma need you to fly yo black ass to help us with this wing situation.”

“The second thing is to straighten out Kanye,” he added. “So I’m putting my list together.”

Meanwhile Marvel Studios is keeping details about CA4 under wraps and it isn’t clear whether the movie will involve Sebastian Stan, who starred with Mackie in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”

Per Variety no director is yet attached.

Mackie first joined the MCU  appearing as Sam Wilson (aka the Falcon) in 2014’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” and reprised the role in five subsequent movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers passed on Captain America’s shield at the end of “Avengers: Endgame,” Wilson officially assumed the mantle over the course of the Disney Plus series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”

Needless to say it’s an exceptional career moment for the Juilliard-educated actor who has showed his diverse range in a variety of films from The Hurt Locker to 8 Mile to most recently The Banker.
