Irv Gotti has issued a lengthy apology for his recent comments regarding DMX’s manner of death.

In case you missed it, Gotti said during an interview on with Chicago’s 107.5 WGCI that X died from a bad dose of crack.

“They said it was a bad dose of crack, and they said some drug fentanyl was mixed in with the crack and that’s what made him overdose,” he explained.

Immediately all of the internet came down on him including his arch rival 50 Cent and producer Swiss Beatz.

On Saturday Gotti apologized for his remarks in a post on Instagram which featured an old photo of him and X, whom he signed to Def Jam Records in the 1990s.

“1st off,” he began in the caption. “Let me say again. How much I love my n-gga X.”

Gotti then insisted he didn’t say anything that hadn’t already been reported, but said “I understand. No one wanted to hear it from me. And for that I am truly sorry.”

He also said he reached out to X’s former wife and apologized to her personally for speaking out of turn.

DMX real name Earl Simmons passed on April 9 after suffering a heart attack on April 2. Autopsy reports are still pending.
