If you loved David Alan Grier and Jamie Foxx on the 90s hit show ‘In Living Color’ then Netflix has a treat for you! The comedic duo reunited for the new show ‘Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!’
We caught up with the 64-year-old comedian where he dished on how good it felt to be back on screen with his former co-host.
“Jamie and I have been talking like you always do. Whenever we ran into each it’s like ‘hey man let’s work together, let’s do something.’ I finally get this call I didn’t know it would take 30 years and I didn’t know it would be in the middle of a pandemic,” Grier said.
“I mean when we first talked and he first called I just assumed well that’s been shelved until after Covid is over… I didn’t really see how at that moment how the industry was going to move forward, let alone the show. Once they showed me protocol and all that stuff ’cause you know I’m trying not to be dead I’m trying to stay alive… we started working on it. And first of all, we are on the same what used to be the lot where ‘In Living Color was.'”
The comedian also said it felt good to feel “needed” for a project.
“If you would’ve told me 30 years ago that when you get to be 64 your career is going to be banging, your career will be on fire, I would’ve told you to get out of here. So first of all this all icing on the cake, this is all dessert.” He went on, “And second of all to be with Jamie… first thing he said was ‘man listen I need you to do this show.'” I can’t tell you the last time I heard I need you. No, I’ve heard ‘we like you to do the show, we might be able to find a place for you, I think I can fit you in,’ but if somebody says I need you here to work with me because we can make this fly. It’s been a joy.”
