While the rest of the world was on lock down due to the coronavirus, Zendaya and John David Washington decided to make a movie.
HipHollywood caught up with the stars of the new Netflix film Malcolm & Marie about shooting during the pandemic and bringing this beautiful love story to life.
And while there was some controversy about their 12 year age difference, director Sam Levinson said they were his first choice for the roles.
“I knew I was writing it for Zendaya because we had been talking about it,” explained the Euphoria director. “Then about six hours into writing it on the first day I thought there is only one person that is John David Washington. He just has a way of focusing you in on the performance, the words … I just think they both are extraordinary.”
Malcom & Marie premieres on Netflix Feb 5.
