Well, this was unexpected. Out of all the feelings we thought Willow Smith would have about her mom’s entanglement with August Alsina, proud was probably last on our list. But, the 19-year-old says that’s exactly how she feels about how Jada and Will Smith handled the very personal revelation.
Red Table Talk is back and the first episode featured Brené Brown discussing guilt, shame and vulnerability. This lead Jada to reveal that her RTT sit-down with husband Will was the most exposed she ever felt. Surprisingly, Willow interjected to let her mother know that she was immensely “proud” of how they handled the issue with love and acceptance.
“I want to put it on the table. I’m so proud of you. To be able to see you and Dad do that, for me, that was like, ‘Okay, that’s the real deal.’ When you can be like, ‘I’m with you, I’m going to stand by you and I’m going to hold your hand, because I love you.’ That’s really important.”
Willow’s supportive words are a far cry from how folks on the internet interpreted the ordeal. Entanglement became the new buzz word for anybody stepping out on their significant other and the memes were plentiful. But, it sounds like the Smiths are all the more better for it.
