Taye Diggs has always been down with the swirl, that is until now.
It’s no secret Diggs loves himself some vanilla, after all, he was married to Idina Menzel for 11 years. But despite the actor’s love for Black culture, starring in some of Hollywood’s biggest films featuring predominantly Black actors AND more recently, dating bi-racial model Amanza Smithof, Diggs still gets heat for liking White women.
The constant criticism and hurtful comments by bitter Black women, however, has scarred Taye so bad, he is hesitant to date outside of his race.
During his interview with Van Lathan, he explained, “To this day, I still get, ‘I thought you only like white girls?'” He continued, “It doesn’t matter how I explain myself, there’s always going to be someone talking.”
That’s when he added, “Deep down inside [there’s resentment]. I don’t wanna say I suppress it, but I just watch it. When it happens to you personally, even though you understand the logic, there’s trauma there,”
He explained, “I don’t know if I can ever mess with a white girl now. I don’t like that. That goes against who I am as a person. I feel like I’ve had deal with that so long it has changed what I think I like, what I’m attracted to.”
