Panthers Quarterback Cam Newton Injured After Serious Car Accident

[UPDATE:] The Carolina Panthers confirmed via Twitter  that Newton is in “fair condition and undergoing tests at Carolinas Medical Center and will remain there overnight for observation.”

Carolina Panthers star, Cam Newton was taken to a hospital on Tuesday morning after being involved in a car crash in uptown Charlotte.

According to the Charlotte Observer, the NFL player’s truck overturned on the Church Street bridge over I-277 about 12:30 p.m. It is also being reported that the quarterback was lying on his back while groaning in pain.

“We are closely monitoring the situation of a car wreck involving Cam Newton,” the Panthers organization wrote on Twitter. “We will have more information at an appropriate time.”

It is unclear the extent of Cam’s injuries, but this photo of the athlete being checked out was posted on Instagram and the good news is he was all smiles.

Newton’s accident comes just days after getting into an on field brawl with Saints’ linebacker, Kasim Edebali.
