Tory Lanez Maintains Innocence, Refuses To Apologize For Megan Thee Stallion Shooting

Tory Lanez is doubling down on his innocence since being sentencing for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

In a statement released on Thursday Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, made it clear that his apology during his sentencing hearing was not an omission of guilty and reiterated that he has been wrongly convicted.

“Regardless of how they try to spin my words, I have always maintained my innocence and I always will,” the Canadian rapper said in an Instagram statement addressed to his “Umbrella” fan group.

“This week in court I took responsibility for all verbal and intimate moments that I shared with the parties involved … That’s it.”

“In no way shape or form was I apologizing for the charges I’m being wrongfully convicted of,” he wrote. “I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do.”

On Tuesday, Lanez stood up in court and spoke for he first time since charges were brought against him for shooting Megan in the foot following a party at Kylie Jenner’s house on July 12, 2020.

Lanez addressed Judge Herriford for nearly 12 mins and asked for leniency, “not as a celebrity but as regular person and father of a 6-year-old son.” He also took responsibility for his actions on the night of the incident.

“That night everyone was drunk. I revealed some secrets to people in the car that I shouldn’t have. If I could turn back time I would,” he said.

On Tuesday Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison. His attorney Jose Baez said they will be filing an appeal .

Lanez said he will continue to fight “till I come out victorious.” He ended his statement by thanking his family, friends and fans for their support. “See you soon,” he wrote.
