Derek Luke is back on our TV screens but this time he’ll be on Disney!

Based off author Kwame Alexander’s best-selling novel, ‘The Crossover’ is a coming of age story that follows teen basketball player brothers Josh and Jordan Bell as they figure out life on and off the court. Derek, who plays their dad, is also a former professional basketball player who tries to adjust to life after ball.

Without giving away too many spoilers, on the show Josh Bell, played by All Americans’ Jayln Hall, has a change of heart and decides he may want to stray away from the basketball plans he had with his brother.

It’s safe to say we’ve all had a thought about whether or not we were on the right path for success or delusion. Well we got a chance to catch up with the cast and was curious to know if they weren’t acting what would they do and some answers are very interesting to say the least.

“I love tap, I love dancing,” Derek said as he revealed he would’ve explored the world of tap dancing.

His co-star Sabrina Levelle, who plays Crystal Bell, Luke’s wife on the show, says she would’ve been more in a guidance role. “I mean so many things I have interest in but definitely guiding like a life coach, that sort of thing.”

The Bell brothers in real life say they would’ve actually stuck with sports. Amir O’Neal , who plays Jordan Bell, says he would be playing basketball while Hall says he would be on the football field. While actresses Deja Cruz and Skyla I’lece both have a passion for singing, Cruz said she would also open up a chocolate bakery in honor of her grandmother.

“I would’ve been a pediatrician were it not for organic chemistry,” Kwame Alexander said. “So I think we can probably thank my organic chemistry C- for The Crossover y’all.”
