Thandiwe Newton Denies Quitting ‘Magic Mike 3’ Over Fight With Channing Tatum

Thandiwe Newton is calling BS on claims she quit the new Magic Mike 3 film over a heated argument with co-star Channing Tatum.

The 49-year-old actress, has exited Magic Mike’s Last Dance after 11 days of filming due to a ‘family matter’ not a fight with Tatum over Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars.

A Warner Bros. Pictures spokesperson released a statement which read: “Thandiwe Newton has made the difficult decision to step away from the production of Warner Bros. Pictures’ Magic Mike’s Last Dance to deal with family matters.”

Newton will reportedly be replaced in the role by Salma Hayek according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Reports that Newton was dropped from the project began circulating on Wednesday following a story in The Sun which claimed the two actors got into while filming in Paddington, London.

Per the report things got ‘unimaginably vicious’, prompting Tatum to drive off the set. Director Steven Soderbough was said to have tried to diffuse the situation. It’s not known which side of the slap the actor’s where on.

A spokesperson for Thandiwe Newton told MailOnline: “This report is completely inaccurate.”

Magic Mike’s Last Dance will be premiering exclusively on HBO Max and will see Channing Tatum return as male stripper Mike Lane. Newton’s role had been kept under wraps, now all of her scenes will be re-shot when filming resumes after the Easter break.
