We were today years old when we learned Issa Rae and Lauren London didn’t get along.

Rae sat down for a revealing interview with Vanity Fair for their June Issue and shared that mentioning London in past interviews and in her memoir rubbed the actress the wrong way.

Apparently when pitching her series “Insecure” based off her hit web series Awkward Black Girl Hollywood executives told Rae that London would be a better fit to play the titular role. Rae eventually went on to star in the HBO comedy but she does regret referencing London by name in interviews.

She told Vanity Fair, thankfully Lauren’s partner, the late rapper Nipsey Hussle, helped them to make peace two years ago at Diddy’s 50th Birthday Bash.

“He was like, ‘You should just talk to her. Let me set it up,’” she said. “It actually sparked an amazing two-hour conversation. We had so much in common.”

“She was like, ‘People don’t understand, I’m an awkward black girl.’ In the same way that I was upset about the limited portrayal of black women, she was like, ‘People do the same thing to me.’ I completely get that.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Issa discussed the fifth and final season of “Insecure.”

We were also today years old when we found out the show was HBO’s first comedy series created by and starring a Black woman but we digress…

Issa also proclaimed that she will never write or star in her own projects again.

“I’m never doing this again,” she says referring to her experience on “Insecure.” “I told myself I would never write and be in a show that I created again. It takes up a lot of your life, and I like to do a lot of things.”
