The nominations for the 2021 Golden Globe Awards are in and as to be expected some of our favs nabbed nominations and some others did not. Let’s start with who did.

And The Nominees Are …

Viola Davis received a Best Actress nomination in the Motion Picture Drama category for her role in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.”

She’ll be up against Andra Day who was nominated for her role in Hulu’s “The United States vs Billie Holiday.”

Day and Raphael Saadiq were also nominated in the Best Original Song category for their track “Tigress and Tweed.”

Late actor Chadwick Boseman – who died in August 2020 after a four-year battle with colon cancer – was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama for his role in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.”

Don Cheadle nabbed a nod in the Best Actor in a TV Series, Comedy category for his role in “Black Monday.”

Regina King was nominated in the best director motion picture category for “One Night in Miami” … While Leslie Odom Jr nabbed two nominations … one for Best Supporting Actor for his roles in the film and also Best Original Song.

He’ll be up against Daniel Kaluuya for best supporting actor for his role as Fred Hampton in “Judas and the Black Messiah.”

John Boyega scooped up a nomination in the Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Limited Series or TV Movie category for his role in “Small Axe.”

Soul nabbed TWO nominations one for Best Original Score and Best Animated Feature.

HBO’s “Love Craft Country” also was nominated in the Best TV Series, Drama category.

Did They Get Snubbed?

Spike Lee’s “Da 5 Bloods” didn’t garner any nominations … and we certainly thought Delroy Lindo was a shoo-in for a nod.

Netflix’s BIGGEST series debut “Bridgerton” didn’t get any noms … nor did Zendaya despite getting high praise from critics for her role in “Malcolm & Marie.”

There were also no acting nominations for the cast of “Love Craft Country.” Many thought Jurnee Smollett would get recognized but that was not the case.

People were also super surprised Michaela Coel didn’t get a nomination for her role in “I May Destroy You”.

Let us know your thoughts.  The 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards will air live on Sunday, Feb.28, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on NBC.
