Donald Glover (and Malia Obama) Take Their Talents To Amazon

Donald Glover has reportedly signed a massive eight-figure deal with Amazon.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Glover’s FX days are over and he has signed a new deal with Amazon allowing him to spread his creative wings as wide as he wants.

The pact is believed to include a content channel of sorts that will spotlight Glover’s work. One such project is called Hive, which is rumored to revolve around a Beyonce-like figure. The project has already begun staffing a writers room, and it’s being reported former first daughter Malia Obama is among those recruited to work on the series.

You may remember Malia worked as an intern on Halle Berry’s short-lived series Extant, so we’re not surprised she’s eyeing a career in Hollywood. She’s slated to graduate from Harvard this year and apparently already has a job lined up.

Meanwhile Glover is set to create and star in a remake of Mr. & Mrs. Smith for Amazon alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge.  The duo previously co-starred in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story. Glover played Lando Calrissian while Waller-Bridge voiced robot L3-37.

Thankfully his move to Amazon will not impact his FX series Atlanta. The award-winning comedy has already been renewed for seasons three and four. Per sources it will begin production in March. Both seasons will be filmed back-to-back in a bid to return the comedy to the air as soon as possible. The series last aired in May 2018.
