Dr. Dre’s Eldest Daughter Says She Hasn’t Seen Him In 17 Years

Whew chile … marital woes aren’t the only family drama Dr. Dre is facing. The Grammy-winner’s eldest daughter, LaTanya Young, recently opened up about the estranged relationship she has with her father who she hasn’t seen in 17 years.

“My father is a family guy I just don’t understand, I feel like he gave up on me,” she told The Daily Mail. “He gave up on me and I don’t know why. I still don’t know why.”

Dre and LaTanya’s mother, Lisa Jackson, had three children together before they split when she was just 5 years old. While Dre’s net worth is believed to be around $800 million after he sold his headphones and speakers brand Beats By Dre to Apple for $3 billion in 2014, according to LaTanya he hasn’t provided much assistance to her over the years.

“I was on assistance for a while, it’s embarrassing to say. He did offer to help me with tuition but he never speaks to me. He never set me up to be able to not need him. He never paid for college, he never did anything to help me and my sisters get along.”

LaTanya, who is now 37-years-old and has four children of her own, says she’s training to be a nurse and taking odd jobs to provide for her family.

“I applied for jobs at Amazon and FedEx. I’ve been a receptionist. In a year I will be qualified as a nurse. It’s hard but I’m strong.”

She insists she doesn’t want money from her multi-millionaire father just a relationship.

“The last time I saw him was when I was 20 at my mom’s house. It was such a good vibe. I do want a relationship with my father, I really do. I have four kids and he’s never even seen his grandkids. My kids like his music. They ask if they can meet him and I don’t even know what to tell them.”

She’s hoping now that wife Nicole Young is out of the picture her father may come around. According to LaTanya, Nicole was not very welcoming to she and her sisters and made their relationship difficult during their 24 year marriage. As previously reported Nicole filed for divorce back in June and since things have gotten nasty between she and Dre.

LaTanya doesn’t have her father’s cell phone but hopes he reaches out.
