First Look: ‘The Neighborhood’ Tackles Racial Injustice On Season Premiere

“The Neighborhood” is taking a serious turn for it’s season 3 premiere episode.

In the episode, titled “Welcome to the Movement,” The Butlers and Johnsons unite when a member of their community is the victim of racial injustice prompting them to join the Black Lives Matter protests happening in Los Angeles.

HipHollywood got an exclusive clip from the powerful premiere.

The series follows a white Midwestern family — led by patriarch Dave Johnson (Max Greenfield) — as they adjust to moving into a predominantly black neighborhood in California. Dave and his family’s next-door neighbors include Calvin (Cedric the Entertainer), his wife Tina (Tichina Arnold), and his sons Malcolm (Sheaun Mckinney) and Marty (Marcel Spears), a successful and nerdy engineer.

Being the show is centered on race relationships and the Black experience it’s no surprise they’d tackle police brutality and Black Live’s Matter following the tragic death of George Floyd.

“The Neighborhood” premieres Monday, Nov. 16 (8:00-8:31 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
