Old-ish: Third 'Black-ish' Spin-off Announced Starring Jenifer Lewis And Laurence Fishburne

Get ready for another Black-ish spin-off. Kenya Barris’ Emmy-nominated series is set to expand it’s television universe even further. After the success of Grown-ish and Mixed-ish, ABC is preparing to give us their next spin-off: Old-ish.

Yes that’s the real title. If you’re a fan of the show, you probably guess off the title alone that the show will star Laurence Fishburne and Jenifer Lewis reprising their roles as Earl “Pops” Johnson and Ruby Johnson, the parents of Anthony Anderson’s Dre.

The spinoff will follow Ruby and Earl as they give love a second chance. When they move to a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood of L.A., they’ll meet characters who represent the old and new faces of the community as they try to make it work as a married couple. Again.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Barris will write the script and co-produce alongside Fishburne and Lewis.

Old-ish will be the third spinoff in addition to the flagship series. Grown-ish, which has become a calling card for cabler Freeform, returns for its fourth season in 2021. Mixed-ish, starring Arica Himmel, Tika Sumpter and Mark-Paul Gosselaar, will return for its second season on ABC sometime in the 2020-21 season.

It’s safe to say, based on the other three shows in the Black-ish family, that this one will also be a hit, bringing their universe full circle while covering all bases and age demographics.

We just need Jenifer to sing and perform the show opening!
