Times are tough … even for Michelle Obama. Our forever FLOTUS revealed on her “The Michelle Obama Podcast” that due to the pandemic and racial tensions across the country she has felt the waves of depression.

“I know that I am dealing with some form of low-grade depression. Not just because of the quarantine, but because of the racial strife, and just seeing this administration, watching the hypocrisy of it, day in and day out, is dispiriting,” she said in the latest episode of her podcast released Wednesday.

In the conversation with her friend, and The Race Card Project founder, Michele Norris, Mrs. Obama also talked about experiencing sleep issues because she’s up “worrying about something” or feeling “a heaviness.” But the “Becoming” author also realizes she not alone and has to be kind to herself stating, “I’ve gone through those emotional highs and lows that I think everybody feels, where you just don’t feel yourself, and sometimes … there has been a week or so where I had to surrender to that, and not be so hard on myself.”

As a mental health advocate, Michelle (our belle!), knows all too well the importance of focusing on your mental well-being, especially in times like these. However, sometimes it’s just incredibly tough — And the racial tensions and unrest have made things all the more difficult.

“I have to say, that waking up to the news, waking up to how this administration has or has not responded, waking up to, yet another, story of a Black man or a Black person somehow being dehumanised, or hurt or killed, or, falsely accused of something, it is exhausting. And, and it, it has led to a weight, that I haven’t felt in my life, in, in a while.”

Well feel you ‘Chelle … we feel you.
