In 2002, Run DMC DJ, Jam Master Jay, was shot and killed while in a recording studio in Queens, New York. The murder had gone unsolved for the last 18 years, but now there has been a break in the case and two men have been arrested in connection with the murder.

According to The New York Times, Ronald Washington and Karl Jordan, Jr., were indicted on charges of murder while engaged in drug trafficking.” The two men have long been suspected of participating in killing the D.J., whose real name was Jason Mizell.

The motive for the murder is still unclear, however investigators believe Mizell may have been involved in the finances of the drug-trafficking operation stating, “There was a beef — it didn’t go as planned.”

Washington, 56, is currently serving a federal prison sentence for robbery, while Jordan, 36, was taken into custody on Sunday and previously had gone to prison for shooting Jam Master Jay’s nephew.

Jay’s Run DMC group mates, Joseph Simmons (aka Rev Run) and Darryl Matthews McDaniels (DMC) have yet to speak publicly on this new break in the nearly two decades old case.
