It’s been a rough few days for Doja Cat. The “Say So” singer had been accused of spewing deeply offensive, racial remarks, which seemed to disparage parts of her mixed race ancestry. The matter intensified and folks on social media advocated for her cancellation with #DojaCatIsOverParty.

The hashtag began trending over the weekend after one of Doja’s songs resurfaced and new fans got a closer look at the old lyrics. The song, “Dindu Nuffin” came out in 2015 and mocked victims of police brutality — apparently, during that time, she had also enjoyed partaking in racist chat rooms.

DC, whose real name is Amalaratna Zandile Dlamini, has apologized to everyone she has offended, stating:

“As for the old song that’s resurfaced, it was in no way tied to anything outside of my own personal experience. It was written in response to people who often used that term to hurt me. I made an attempt to flip its meaning, but recognise that it was a bad decision to use the term in my music.”

Spoiler Alert: Folks ain’t buying it and now Doja KKKat is trending.

Do you accept Doja Cat’s apology?
