Will The LGBT Community Accept Wendy Williams’ Apology?

Wendy Williams is apologizing for some insensitive comments she made on her show Thursday — but, it remains to be seen if folks accept it.

What Did She Say?

It all started with a chat about “Galentines” … a derivative of Valentine’s Day where the focus is on gal pals or gay men. Apparently, for Wendy, making Valentine’s Day queer is where she draws the line. She asked her audience for their thoughts and this is what followed:

“If you’re a man and you’re clapping, you’re not even a part of this. You don’t understand the rules of the day … I don’t care if you’re gay. You don’t get a menses every 28 days. You can do a lot that we do, but I get offended by the idea that we go through something you will never go through.”

She went on to say:

“And stop wearing our skirts and our heels. Just saying, girls, what do we have for ourselves. … Looky here now, gay men, you’ll never be the women that we are. No matter how gay.”

As you can imagine, the backlash was swift and biting.

And as you can also guess, the tear-filled apology wasn’t far behind.

What Did The Apology Say?

In a vide posted to her Instagram, Williams claimed her comments were possibly “out of touch.” She also claimed that she will do better in the future.
