UPDATE: Authorities have now revealed there were a total of nine people aboard the helicopter that crashed Sunday morning. NTSB board member Jennifer Homendy told reporters there were more than 5 people killed along with NBA legend Kobe Bryant.
HipHollywood can confirm that Kobe’s 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant was also onboard the flight.
Those also on board the 12-seat helicopter included Orange Coast College head baseball coach John Altobelli, his wife Keri and daughter Alyssa. Another victim was Christina Mauser, who was a coach at Harbor Day School in Corona del Mar, Costa Mesa mayor Katrina Foley tweeted.
A mother and daughter from Orange County also died in the crash, family and friends confirmed on social media. They were Sarah and Payton Chester. A friend said Payton attended St. Margaret’s Episcopal School in San Juan Capistrano.
As previously reported Bryant was among five people killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on Sunday. Bryant was 41 was on his way to his Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks, CA at the time of the crash.
We’re told Gianna had a basketball game at noon and Bryant was slated to coach. Those aboard the helicopter also included another player and parent and the pilot. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department an investigation is ongoing.
During a press conference Los Angeles County Fire Chief Daryl Osby said at 9:47am L.A. County Fire team received a 911 call regarding a crash near the intersection of Las Virgenes and Willow Glen Street.
“Upon upon arrival paramedics determined that all of the passengers were deceased, ” explained Osby.
Kobe is survived by his wife Vanessa, 17 year old daughter Natalia Diamante, 3 year old daughter Bianka Bella and 1 year old daughter Capri.
Kobe was 41. RIP.
