Martin Lawrence is back on the scene and in a major way! With “Bad Boys for Life” hitting theaters in mere days — which is sure to be a box office hit — all eyes are on Martin and what’s been on his mind since going low a while ago.

The usually quiet Lawrence sat-down with GQ and opened up about a lot of things, but the most startling maybe the reason why his self-titled comedy came to an abrupt end after 5 successful seasons. In short, the sexual assault accusations from co-star Tisha Campbell put the kibosh on “Martin” season 6.

GQ: You did the [Martin] show for five seasons, right? How come it ended?
Martin Lawrence: Well, how can I say this? It just was time to end. Let’s just put it that way. It was just, at that time, there was some, um, there were some things that was being said that—

GQ: You’re talking about Tisha Campbell’s lawsuit?
ML: Yeah. Yeah.

GQ: I saw that you guys had been spending time together recently.
ML: Yeah. Because none of that was true. It was all a lot of bullshit and—

GQ: What was bullshit?
ML: Just whoever’s side it was, it was bullshit.

GQ: Did you guys ever talk about it?
ML: We don’t need to talk about something that just didn’t happen. So I just decided to walk away from the show. I just decided to end it. People said that I got canceled, but that wasn’t the case. I decided to just leave the show.

GQ: Let me ask the question a different way: Do you understand Tisha’s perspective differently now than you did then?
ML: I love Tisha. I’ve seen her then and now, now and then, always with nothing but love. I have nothing but love for her, and I always have.

And thankfully, the love was reciprocated by Tisha when she talked about Martin’s GQ interview on “The Talk”. Although she admitted, it did take her off-guard at first…
