They absolutely BOMBED with the biopic Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B, but let’s hope Lifetime can redeem themselves with Whitney.
A date has been set and new pictures have been released promoting the biopic of Whitney Houston’s life. The film will chronicle Houston’s (played by Yaya DaCosta) relationship with Bobby Brown (played by Arlen Escarpeta) from the time they first met at the very height of their celebrity to their courtship and tumultuous marriage. Unlike the Aaliyah biopic, Whitney will actually feature many of the iconic singer’s massive hits including “The Greatest Love of All,” “I’m Your Baby Tonight,” “I’m Every Woman” and “I Will Always Love You”, all sang by Deborah Cox.
Directed Angela Bassett, Whitney will premiere on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at 8pm ET/PT. Following the movie’s premiere, Lifetime will air the hour-long documentary Beyond the Headlines: Whitney Houston at 10pm, providing an in-depth look at the life and death of Houston.
