Real Reason Wendy Williams Not Returning To Her Show This Fall

No matter how she slices it, Wendy Williams is not returning to her purple chair this fall.

The TV host did an interview on Instagram Live with Fat Joe over the weekend and insisted she’ll “absolutely” be returning. She also hit up a Met gala afterparty and was seen at power eatery Fresco By Scotto talking to pals about her planned TV comeback.

Unfortunately sources tell HipHollywood it’s not happening. For starters production company, Debmar-Mercury, signed a deal with “The View” alum Sherri Shepherd to take over Williams’ time slots. The production company also announced in February that “The Wendy Williams Show” would end after it’s 14th season.

And then there’s the big elephant in the room … she is uninsurable. Insiders say even if a TV network wanted to giver her a shot at a return, due to health and substance abuse issues no one will insure her.

Williams stepped away from her show in the fall of 2021 due to complications from Graves’ disease, but had been plagued with health and personal issues in previous seasons.

During her year long absence guest hosts including Shepherd, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, Michael Rapapport and Leah Remini have filled-in. Now the show is slated to officially end in June.

There have been reports that Wendy has gotten multiple podcast offers. In the meantime she’s still embroiled in a nasty legal battle with Wells Fargo after they froze her account in February claiming she needs guardianship.
