They say revenge is a dish best served cold, but according to Laz Alonso, it’s a dish that shouldn’t be served at all.

In his latest film, Wrath of Man, Laz enters an action packed world of robbery and revenge. But, when asked about his own take on getting someone back, the 47-year-old says that at this point in his life revenge no longer serves him.

“I think that at one point in my life when I was much younger revenge was something that fueled me. It was something that made me want to be great to prove people wrong,” the actor told HH during the Wrath of Man press day.” But, after some years of experience, and a few life lessons, Alonso changed his tune. “I think that I got to a certain point in my life where I realized that revenge is toxic and you end up devoting more energy to that than you do to making yourself great and living you best life.”

But, for Laz, letting go of revenge not only freed him and shifted his energy, it also changed the trajectory of his career. “When I was finally able to let go of those feelings and come to peace … that’s when I finally started to do well in my career, that’s when I really started to prosper.”

Now, THAT’S a word!

You can see Laz as Carlos in Wrath of Man, directed by Guy Ritchie and also starting Jason Statham, in theaters on May 7th, 2021. But, in the meantime, we’d suggest you heed his words about revenge.
