The 93rd Academy Awards went down Sunday at Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles, and it was a big night for Black folks. But before the show even started the stars walked the red carpet in some looks that were hot and some that us bothered … let’s start with the hot.

There was nothing mellow about Zendaya’s yellow gown. The stunning actress wore Valentino Haute Couture.

H.E.R.

The singer was regal and royal in this custom Dundas jumpsuit  inspired by a look Prince wore to accept his Oscar for Purple Rain in 1985.

VIOLA DAVIS

Viola Davis was white hot in this Alexander McQueen gown and Forevermark diamonds.

ANGELA BASSETT

Angela Bassett was the epitome of red hot in this Alberta Ferretti gown and jewels by Chopard.

ANDRA DAY

Andra Day was solid gold in this custom Vera Wang gown and jewelry by Tiffany & Co.

DANIEL KALUUYA

Daniel Kaluuya was also dapper and debonaire in this blue Bottega Veneta suit.

LAKEITH STANFIELD

Meanwhile Judas and the Black Messiah star Lakeith Stanfield was not dressed to impress in this vintage Saint Laurent look.

HALLE BERRY

We also weren’t feeling Halle Berry’s look. Her pink Dolce & Gabbana gown was beautiful but the banged-bob wig was not giving what it was supposed to give.

Of course let us know your thoughts on all of the Oscars looks in the comments.
