Jharrel, Lupita, Jamie & More … Did SAG Awards Get It Right?

Published

on

The Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations were announced on Wednesday morning and inevitable, they were immediately compared to the Golden Globe nominations which happened at the top of the week.

SAG has been praised for it’s diversity in various categories, while GG was panned. The comparison is more than fair, and it’s also worth noting that the SAG awards are nominated by other actors, while Golden Globes are voted on by members of The Hollywood Foreign Press Association. And that, my friends, is the big difference.

So, let’s take a look at which actors the actors are loving these days…

One of our faves, Jharrel Jerome, was nominated for his role in “When They See Us” and since the film got no love from the Golden Globes we were ecstatic for this nod. Someone else who had been shut out, Lupita Nyong’o, also got some love from SAG for her role in the thriller “Us”. Both nominees are beyond deserving.

It was also good to Jamie Foxx recognized once again — this time for “Just Mercy”. And, staying on trend, Cynthia Erivo was nominated for her performance in “Harriet”.

Take a look at the full list below … You’ll also see repeat nominees Mahershala Ali and Sterling K. Brown. Anyone else you wish made the list?
