‘Insecure’ Season 4 Tea … Who’s Returning And Who’s Not?!

Finally … Finally, we are getting some long overdue news about season 4 of “Insecure”!

The Issa Rae-created show ended season 3 at the end of December 2018, and shortly after it was announced that season 4 wouldn’t arrive until 2020 due to Rae’s busy schedule. And honestly, the chick is hella busy — she has two films slated for next year, she launched a record label, and she still has numerous projects in pre-production and production like the reboot of “Set It Off”. See, booked and busy … but we digress.

Back to “Insecure” — now we know a bit more about the popular HBO show and what we can expect.

First, it looks like we may be seeing something sooner, rather than later. As in the top of 2020, not the end. Co-star Amanda Seales posted earlier this month that they have already wrapped shooting!

And when it comes to the cast, clearly these four ladies (Issa Rae, Yvonne Orji, Amanda Seales & Natasha Rothwell) are returning. But, we’d be lying if we didn’t admit that seeing Seales in the mix was a bit surprising. If you recall, there was a bit of a brouhaha when Amanda put Rae’s publicist on blast in September for not letting her into a Black Hollywood Emmys party. At the time, Seales stated, “She has never been nice to me ever. She’s always had a curtness, and she’s always seemed to be bothered simply by my demeanor, my way of communicating with her, etcetera. At a certain point, it became, ‘Well this is not someone I need to speak to because I don’t work for her, she doesn’t work for me. There’s no reason for us to interact for all intents and purposes.’ So we don’t.” But, we she brought it to Issa’s attention, Rae’s simply stated she didn’t want to get involved. And apparently, that worked because the two seemed perfectly fine on set.

It also looks like Jay Ellis may be returning as he posted this “Fantastic 4” photo just yesterday…

Now, what about the storyline? Well, show runner Prentice Penny had this to say last year as we saw characters Issa and Molly dating roommates. “Typically we’ve always had their relationships as ‘Issa’s dating this guy’ and ‘Molly’s dating this guy.’ And never the twain shall sort of meet… what’s interesting now is what will this friendship be like [in a new situation]?” Penny revealed to Refinery 29.

So, does all that tea make you want to tune in?
