Could it be … have our prayers been answered?
20 years since The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air‘s final season, now, it seems, a spin-off series could actually be in the works.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s new cross-platform holding company Westbrook is currently developing a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air spin-off series.
Westbrook is reportedly designed to expand the Smith family brand beyond film and TV into new media, tech and merch.
No other details were given, but considering Smith has just recently launched a Fresh Prince merch line, something must be in the works.
Over the years, there have been plenty of rumors about a potential reboot of the 90’s Smith-led sitcom.
Addressing talk of a revival back in 2017, Will joked that he’d have to play the Uncle Phil role in any reboot, considering he’s now into his 50s.
Meanwhile, earlier this year Tatyana Ali who played Ashley Banks told HipHollywood that she’d love to be apart of a revival of some sort.
“Just the fact that we’d all be getting together — with the exception of James [Avery] who we lost — that would be enough for me to give it a go.”
Back in March, we also reported that a film based on the series was also in the works. Unlike the show, “Bel-Air’ is a dark re-imagining of the series which follows a kid from Philly whose life got turned upside-down… in 2019.
The creator, Morgan Cooper shot a trailer in hopes of getting a studio to pick it up. The hype alone caused the visual to go viral and Smith invited Cooper to Miami to discuss the project.
Needless to say, there are a lot of ways this spin-off could go down, and we can’t wait!
