on

Shooting has begun in Atlanta on Coming 2 America and we got the cast, including Eddie Murphy, to share exclusive details with HipHollywood.

There Was Concern About The Director

A lot of people, including Paramount Studio’s were surprised when Eddie Murphy chose Craig Brewer to direct this movie. No disrespect, but neither Hustle & Flow or Black Snake Moan are comedy classics. Brewer showed his comedy chops directing Dolemite so Eddie felt 100 percent comfortable handing over his baby, the long awaited sequel to Coming To America. Eddie told HipHollywood on the red carpet in Toronto that Craig is all good when it comes to comedy.

Baby Mama Drama

We know the film follows Murphy as Prince Akeem on his trek back to America to find his long lost son played by Jermaine Fowler, but who is his mother?

Sources tell HipHollywood that she is none other than SNL alum Leslie Jones. Jones who just excited the live sketch show has been on set in Atlanta shooting scenes with Murphy and the cast.

Prepare To Be Wowed By Wesley Snipes

We know Wesley Snipes will play General Izzi ruler of a land that neighbors Zamunda. But prepare to be thoroughly entertained. According to director Craig Brewer, Snipes’ character is a definite scene stealer and he’s so excited to be working with him and fostering his return back to the big screen.

Side note: Snipes also stars in Dolemite Is My Name and we can vouch for his onscreen greatness.

Costumes Like You Never Seen Before

Ruth Carter is bringing her A-game again with her costume design. The Oscar winner who was hand picked by Murphy to create costumes for the film says she’s giving us Africa like we’ve never seen before. Carter did after all nab an Academy Award for her Best Costume Design for Black Panther and then there’s her work on countless other films like Malcolm X, Roots, Do The Right Thing so no surprise here.

No Samuel L. Jackson

The cast for Coming 2 America has been announced and errybody from the first film is back for the sequel except for one big name. Unfortunately Samuel L. Jackson will not be returning for the sequel but that’s not because they didn’t want him to. Brewer said they would have loved to have return, so maybe there’s still hope.

If you recall Sam was the foul-mouthed robber who frequently stuck up McDowell’s until he was hilariously taken down by Akeem and Semmi.
