Judge Mathis Denies Spitting In Valet’s Face, DNA May Be The Determining Factor

He’s tasked with laying down the law in the courtroom, but now TV Judge Greg Mathis may be on the receiving end of courtroom justice if a valet driver in Detroit has his way.

It all started when Mathis stopped to get a little soul food at Flood’s Bar and Grille in the D. Of course, the 59-year-old took his Rolls Royce for the journey and parked it with valet. But, when he went to retrieve it, the valet driver was MIA and had the judge’s keys in his pocket. The driver finally returned, over a half an hour later, and Greg let him have it.

“I yelled at him and asked why would he take my car for 40 minutes, or the keys to my car,” Mathis said to TMZ. “He began to apologize, and then he said something I think [like], ‘I went to the store,’ or something that was more ridiculous than the apology. So we had a little verbal back-and-forth, and that was the extent of it.”

However, the valet has a different story and claims that not only did he receive a verbal lashing, but that the judge hauled off and spit on him, too! While Mathis adamantly denies hocking a loogie, the driver has a plan to refute that rebuttal … DNA testing. That’s right, according to the drivers attorney, he plans to have his shirt tested to prove that Mathis spit on him.

The valet has filed a police report for assault and Detroit detectives are currently investigating. The driver says he has two witnesses that can vouch for him, while Mathis says he has at least 6 who can back up his account. “I don’t know whether this is a money grab, which I suspect it is,” Mathis stated. “People get accused all the time and it’s not true.”
