Look, we we’re already excited to see “Lion King” in a couple of weeks, but Disney has gone ahead and put some extra pep in our step with news of Halle Bailey cast as Ariel in the upcoming live-action “The Little Mermaid”! Take. All. Our. Money!!!

Halle, best known as 1/2 of the singing group — signed by Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment — Chloe x Halle, will be the first Black woman to play the beautiful mermaid daughter of King Triton with an angelic voice and heart of gold.

Production on the film is set to start in early 2020. And while casting isn’t complete, rumors of Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Awkwafina as Scuttle, and Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, have been running rampant.

And speaking of rumors, for quite some time, it was rumored that Zendaya was actually in the running for the highly sought after role of Ariel. HH caught with the newly-minted red-head at the “Spider-man: Far From Home” premiere where she spoke about the “rumor that will not die”.

It may not be Zendaya, but fans are absolutely thrilled that Bailey, who also stars in Freeform’s “Grown-ish”, will take on the iconic role…

Congrats Halle!
