If you’ve seen Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us then you know it’s a roller coaster of emotions. Thankfully for the cast, they had a crisis hotline they could call if they needed to talk to someone while filming.
Niecy Nash told HipHollywood at times, it was much needed.
“I have never been on a project that had a crisis hotline you could call,” explained Nash who plays the mother of 16 year old Korey Wise.
The new four-part mini-series details the 1989 trial (and it’s aftermath) of five Harlem teenage boys who were wrongfully convicted of raping Trisha Meili in Central Park.
We also sat down with the guys who played the Central Park Five (Jharrell Jerome, Asante Blackk, Caleel Harris, Ethan Herisse, Marquis Rodriguez and they opened up about how they leaned on each other during filming.
When They See Us is streaming now on Netflix.
