Jharrel Jerome definitely deserves a standing ovation (and an Emmy nomination) for his work in When They See Us.
But we’re not the only ones that think so. Oprah Winfrey also praised the 21-year-old actor for his role as Khorey Wise in the four-part Netflix mini-series.
“Can we all stand up and give Jharrel Jerome a round of applause,” she wrote on her Instagram page followed by a series of clapping emoji’s. “Incredible performance #standingovation.”
ICYMI, Jerome plays one of the five boys wrongfully convicted of raping Trisha Meili in Central Park in 1989. Ava DuVernay directed the project and also assembled a stellar cast to play the real-life boys including Jerome who not only played Wise as a 16-year-old but also as an adult.
When we caught up with him he detailed how he nabbed both parts. Believe it or not it all had to do with his beard.
