#Mayochella! Taylor Swift Tries To Gentrify Beyonce’s Homecoming And Twitter Isn’t Here For It

Y’all, the entire internet is trolling Taylor Swift HARD — and it may be slightly warranted.

Swift opened the 2019 Billboard Music Awards with the first live performance of her new song “ME!” featuring Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco. However, from the very beginning, when a loud whistle rang out and the drums kicked in and the full marching band hit the stage, déjà vu set in. Have we seen this performance before?, many questioned out loud. Maybe something similar, others wondered — then reality hit. Ahhhhh yes, Beyonce, Queen Bey has done this before … recently, and on a very, VERY grand scale!

At first glance it certainly seems that Taylor is trying her damnedest to recreate Yonce’s 2018 Coachella performance. However, upon a closer look, there are some very stark differences that make her imitation less flattery and more flat-out egregious. Bey’s “Homecoming” was a celebration of HBCUs, Black culture and Black pride. Comparatively, let’s just say that Tay’s version was a bit whitewashed.

And Twitter took notice:

The Beehive also reminded folks this isn’t Tay Tay first time ripping off Queen Bey…

And while Swift may have done a band before … so did Bey and co.

Where’s Kanye when you need him!
