It hasn’t even been a week since Williams filed for divorce from Hunter, but the blindsided soon-to-be ex is speaking out. Wendy said her peace while hosting her eponymous talk show on Monday, and now Kevin is showing his cards in a statement released to The Blast:
“28 years ago I met an amazing woman: Wendy Williams. At the time, I didn’t realize that she would not only become my wife, but would also change the face of entertainment and the world. I have dedicated most of our lives to the business empire that is Wendy Williams Hunter, a person that I truly love and respect unconditionally.
I am not proud of my recent actions and take full accountability and apologize to my wife, my family and her amazing fans. I am going through a time of self-reflection and am trying to right some wrongs.
No matter what the outcome is or what the future holds, we are still The Hunter Family and I will continue to work with and fully support my wife in this business and through any and all obstacles she may face living her new life of sobriety, while I also work on mine. I ask that you please give me and my family privacy as we heal. Thank you.”
There’s a couple of things going on with this statement, but that last thing anyone should be focusing on is that lame a** apology. First, as we all have heard, this isn’t a “recent action.” Kevin’s affair with Sharina Hudson, the women who reportedly just gave birth to his child, has been long-standing — upwards of a decade (or more)!
Next, why so many references to their business partnership and not their marital one? It seems as though Hunter is laying the groundwork to make sure he gets half of the Wendy Williams empire he made mention of. In New Jersey, we’re the pair lives, spouse who commit adultery are less likely to walk away with half size the judge can take their infidelity into consideration when dissolving the marriage. However, because Wendy and Kevin have been married so long, and he has been a part of her “empire” for so many years, it is highly likely that Hunter will walk away with an enormous amount of cash.
Lastly, bringing up Wendy’s “new life of sobriety” is a low blow, considering Kevin may be the reason she relapsed in the first place. There have been allegations of abuse at the hands of Hunter, and many hav e also recounted verbal abuse he’s spewed at his wife. If, in fact, he is her trigger, the last thing Wendy needs is his “support”.
Do you think Kevin’s apology was sincere?
