Nipsey Hussle was not only beloved by his fans and the music community but also former President Barack Obama.
On Thursday during the slain rappers memorial service it was revealed that Obama sent in a heartfelt letter, personally written that morning.
“I’ve never met Nipsey but I’ve heard his music through my daughters,” part of the letter read. “While most folks look at the Crenshaw neighborhood [and see violence and gangs] … Nipsey saw potential. He saw hope.”
“His choice to invest in that community rather than to ignore it … set an example for young people to follow,” the letter continued. “I hope his memory inspires more good work in Crenshaw.”
Obama was just one of many celebrity admirers, collaborators and friends who paid tribute to the 33 year old Grammy nominated MC. Inside his obituary everyone from Jay Z to Tiffany Haddish had messages expressing their condolences and praises of Hussle’s work and dedication to the community.
TIFFANY HADDISH & YARA SHAHIDI
As previously reported Hussle, real name Ermias Asghedom was laid to rest at Staples Center. Thousands of family, fans and friends turned out to pay their last respects. Jay Z and his wife Beyonce were among the celebrity attendees along with Diddy, Usher, Stevie Wonder, Meek Mill, James Harden, Russell Westbrook and more.
