In case you missed it R. Kelly is back in jail.
On Wednesday afternoon, just mere hours after his explosive interview with Gayle King aired on CBS This Morning, the 52-year-old singer was was taken into custody at the Daley Center in Chicago.
Kelly was booked due to unpaid child support in the amount of $161,663. As previously reported Kells was given until March 6 to pay the amount in full or he’d go back to jail.
Now HipHollywood has learned that Kelly tried to make a payment arrangement instead and the judge was not having it.
Per Kelly’s publicist the singer offered to pay $50,000 to $60,000 in court Wednesday and set up a payment plan. The judge denied the offer. Apparently he didn’t take to kindly to news that Kelly had paid back the $160K to Valerie Love, the woman who bailed him out just last week for his sexual assault case.
Now he will not be released per the judges order until he pays the amount owed. Kelly’s publicist says he was completely “deflated” by the ruling.
“He was disappointed. He felt rejected. He was down. You could see the air go out of him. He never expected that. He was never looking forward to that. He never knew that was coming,” the publicist said via a statement to Entertainment Tonight, adding that the singer’s team is actively working on coming up with money needed to get him released on bail.
Kelly and ex-wife, Andrea Lee share three children — Joann, 21, Jay, 19, and Robert, 17. His next court date is scheduled for March 13.
Meanwhile Kelly has been accused of multiple sexual abuse allegations and inappropriate encounters with girls and young women an allegation he vehemently denied to King.
