Before R. Kelly sat down with Gayle King on CBS This Morning he had approached Iyanla Vanzant to fix his life. Unfortunately, it seems as though Vanzant knew that Kells wasn’t ready then — and maybe still not ready now.
HH caught up with Iyanla just a couple of weeks prior to Kelly’s emotional outburst of an interview and the “Fix My Life” coach opened up about why she turned Robert away.
“He wasn’t ready to do what I do,” Iyanla revealed. But she continued as if she knew this day was coming. “Now, he may be ready for something else, [but] he ain’t ready to do what I do and I wasn’t going to exploit his weakness.”
But, if you think Vanzant missed a real opportunity to help the embattled singer, she admits she tried multiple avenues. “They came to us to do it on camera … the first offer was to do it off camera,” the motivation speaker stated.
Do you think sit-down with Iyanla off camera would have been more beneficial to Kelly instead of his lengthy interview on camera with Gayle King?
